The Village
It takes a village, let our center be yours
The Village is a looping program that emphasizes emotional security and relationships between children and caregivers. Its name is inspired by the unique layout of our main floor, once a church sanctuary, which features a single large room divided by a half wall. This arrangement makes communication between rooms simple, allowing caregivers and children to connect and cultivate a sense of community—our own little village.
Children are divided into Littles (6 weeks -30 months) and Middles (30-48 months), with caregivers remaining in their rooms until the youngest transitions. This continuity fosters deeper connections and trust. If an older child moves to the Middles or leaves the program, the community on the main floor facilitates smooth transitions through caregiver collaboration.
Littles
Our infant care program is based on Magda Gerber’s RIE Approach, which emphasizes giving infants the freedom to explore their environment, recognizing them as unique individuals worthy of respect. Play is crucial in this approach, serving as a tool for infant development. Through play, infants engage in sensory exploration, helping them understand the world and develop cognitive and motor skills. It also fosters social and emotional growth, allowing them to express themselves and learn to navigate social interactions. By providing a safe and supportive environment for exploration through play, we nurture their curiosity and creativity, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and development.
6 Weeks to 30 Months
“Infancy is a vulnerable state of development, therefore, it’s not enough that babies receive good care, the care must be excellent.”
-Magda Gerber

We view toddlers as capable and curious individuals, eager to explore their surroundings. Inspired by Magda Gerber, we agree that "when you approach a child with an open heart and open mind, you will be amazed at what you can learn." We honor their interests by providing an environment rich with open-ended materials for self-directed play. Caregivers observe and gently guide, supporting toddlers as they lead their own learning journeys. As Gerber wisely said, "Do less, observe more, enjoy most," and we embody this philosophy by allowing toddlers to discover the world at their own pace.
30 Months to 48 Months
“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.”
— O. Fred Donaldson
